Our Philosophy

We believe coffee should be…… Delicious. In Touch & Fun.

Life moves quickly. But, high on a mountain-side in Nicaragua, shaded by tall trees, coffee is growing slowly. It feels like a different world or a different time. Cool nights and sun-drenched days nurture fine Arabica coffee trees without the intervention of modern technology. This is where twin engine airplanes would land to pick up sacks of coffee.

You can be transported to this land without time when you smell the aroma of your Twin Engine Coffee brewing. Take a moment to breathe. Whether you are on vacation, at home or work, we want Twin Engine Coffee to bring a little more pleasure to your day.

Twin Engine Coffee was founded in 2013 in León, Nicaragua with commitments to quality, connection, local business, and development. And with those principles, we're growing.

Our philosophy of coffee is that it can be enjoyed purely, free of defects, and showcase the uniqueness of character brought by terroir, care for beans, and roasting.  We develop roasts for each coffee to accentuate these characteristics.

Additionally to quality and purity, we believe coffee should be fun, and interesting.  We build relationships with our suppliers and customers, design fun and impactful packaging, and source coffees that you would not be able to access otherwise. This attention to detail is something that is being noticed here in our community.

  1. Our farmers are paid more than the international price for their coffee. We do this to encourage them to continue to produce coffee of the highest quality, so they can sell it to us. This money helps them invest in their farms and infrastructure, and of course they also use their earnings for their families.
  2. Our finished coffee is produced entirely in Nicaragua (Growing, Roasting, Grinding, and Packaging). By roasting and packaging in Nicaragua, we guarantee the freshest possible coffee while employing and developing local professionals. These jobs are not traditionally available in the country. Our professionals are developing skills that they will take with them through their careers in coffee, and beyond.
  3. We are making high quality coffee available in the local market. By holding tastings and offering our coffee locally, we are educating the community about the benefits of their own high quality coffee. Through local investment in people and products, we are supporting the overall development of the coffee industry and Nicaragua’s infrastructure. Working at the farm and post-farm ensures that we can all contribute to a more sustainable supply of delicious coffee beans. With continued economic development, Nicaragua can strive to produce better, consistent coffees, and improve the lives of Nicaraguans at home.
